Building Plans

Because we desire to serve our God rightly, because we are growing in faith, because we are growing in number, because we are outgrowing our current facility, and because we are called to stand together in our proclaiming the good news about Jesus, it is time for us build a new sanctuary.

“And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.”---Exodus 25:8

Holy Scripture plainly teaches that God commands us to set aside sacred space for the purpose of Him coming to
dwell among us. The Lord has always placed Himself in the midst of His broken children to forgive them, to renew
them and to give them hope and strength to fight the good fight of faith.

In light of this truth, it is our sincerest desire to build a proper sanctuary for the Lord to come to us, and for us to
worship Him rightly. As our worship space is presently compromised by being used as an all-purpose room, the
only solution before us is to build a sanctuary that is used only for worshipping the God who comes to dwell among us.

We believe that this sanctuary should be able to hold 200 of God’s redeemed, and should be welcoming and
comfortable to members and visitors alike. We desire that it is accessible for both the elderly, and those with small
children. We believe that a proper sanctuary should enhance the worship experience, and not be a hindrance to it.

We of Faith Lutheran Church relish our identity as the lamp stand of God’s truth in this community, and we believe
that establishing a proper house of worship for God to descend and dwell among us will help strengthen the membership
here, and help us to remain a beacon to the city around us.

Faith Lutheran Church is

Dedicated to CHRIST;

Built on Nothing Less

“For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.” – Hebrews 3:4

OUR MISSION: We preach Christ crucified for the forgiveness of sins, for the peace of God’s baptized children, and for the conversion of those lost in unbelief. We are not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

Project Vision:  And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.”---Exodus 25:8

Our Goal : We will have dedicated sacred space for worship, Exodus 25:8And let them make Me a sanctuary. .

THE PLAN:  See the plans displayed in the Narthex.  Estimated cost of the project is $650,000 plus $50,000 for Sanctuary furnishings (pews, altar, pulpit, etc) and $50,000 for an electric organ.

Our Pledge Campaign for the future:

Our Capital Campaign ending this month has been a success and shows that we could support a mortgage payment if we continue giving at the level previously committed.

We currently have pledged 41% of the estimated cost of the proposed building plan and will need to secure financing in the form of a mortgage loan to begin building in the near future.

Our giving has kept up with our needs for work of the church as we have fulfilled our pledge commitment over the last three years.  But, we have not consistently had a positive cash flow, and not with a month to month surplus that would allow us to convince LCEF or another organization that we could pay back a loan from our normal giving and at the same time support the work of the church.

In order to show LCEF or other organizations we are prepared to commit to the mortgage payment and begin the process to build our Sanctuary, any pledge must be over the amount you have prayerfully set aside for the work of the church as your regular offerings.

We will not sacrifice the work of the church of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the support of our called Pastor and staff in order to build the Sanctuary.  There is no reason for this to become a problem as long as we ask God to keep our priorities in the proper order.

Therefore, we propose a continuation of our pledge campaign to support the building of our Sanctuary and the funding of Sanctuary furnishings and the Organ.

Some numbers-

Our giving to the pledges for the Capital Campaign ending this month were at the rate of approximately $7000/month.

A mortgage of $650,000 with an interest APR of 4.25% and a 30 year term has a monthly payment of $3239.

The same mortgage loan with a 15 year term has a monthly payment of $4931.

And finally, the same loan with a 10 year term has a monthly payment of $6700.

All of these payments are less than we have been giving for the last three years to our Capital Campaign.

We already have 40% of the funds needed for the project in the bank, so these figures are the upper limit of what we would need to pledge and commit.

The Stewardship committee believes we are ready to make this commitment and begin the process of building our Sanctuary.

We have structured the pledge campaign in two parts.  We ask you to prayerfully consider supporting one or both of these funds.

Mortgage Pledge Fund- Contribution to the payment of a mortgage

We ask you consider a pledge for the next three years to support the payment of the mortgage.  As described above, the upper limit of the mortgage payment would be $3000-7000.  We anticipate a monthly mortgage payment of $2000-$4000.  As mentioned above, we are currently contributing $7000/month toward the Building Fund.

We must stress again, in order to show LCEF or other organizations we are prepared to commit to the mortgage payment and begin the process to build our Sanctuary, this pledge must be over the amount you have prayerfully set aside for the work of the church as your regular offerings.  We must not and will not sacrifice the work of the church of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the support of our called Pastor and staff in order to build the Sanctuary.  Our giving has kept up with our needs for the church as we have fulfilled our pledge commitment over the last three years, so there is no reason for this to become a problem as long as we ask God to keep our priorities in the proper order.

Furnishings and Organ Pledge Fund- Contribution to the buying of proper furnishings and an Organ for the Sanctuary

For those desiring to contribute to the new electronic organ or sanctuary furnishings, we ask you to pledge to funds set up for those items.  The estimated project cost of $650,000 mentioned above is for the building only and does not include the new organ or sanctuary furnishings.  The organ will cost approximately $50,000 and the pews and altar furnishings are estimated to cost $50,000.

These funds will be kept separate from our general funds and dedicated to the purpose for which they were pledged.  If we find we are failing in our primary mission of spreading the Gospel of Christ Crucified for the Forgiveness of Sins because we have shifted giving to the building program instead of giving sacrificially and in addition to our weekly giving, we will revisit our commitment to our church and mission.
